Depression is one of the most common mental health concerns among people aged 60 and older. Our geriatric specialists can help develop the best treatments and therapies for depression and other mental health Issues in elderly patients.

How We Help With

Depression affects 16.2 million American adults and 3.1 million American teenagers. Even though mental health awareness is growing within society, depression can still be a lonely and isolating struggle. At CBH, we strive to help individuals through medication and therapy manage their symptoms and leave their depression behind.

We encourage anyone who feels that they may need help to come to us for behavioral health services and depression treatment. Our depression specialists can diagnose and treat your symptoms in a judgment-free environment. Whether you have depression or a combination of disorders, we can find a solution together. CBH will perform a comprehensive review of symptoms, as well as personal and family history to help us understand what works for you and what doesn’t when it comes to your depression therapy.

Depression Treatment at CBH may include one or more of the following:

  • Therapy: During therapy for depression, a licensed therapist will work with you to understand your symptoms and behaviors.
  • Medication: You may receive medication to  relieve your depression symptoms. These medications come in many types, and are reviewed and managed regularly during your treatment. CBH is committed to finding the right medication treatment for you.

CBH also offers TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) therapy. TMS therapy involves the use of magnetic fields to stimulate brain cells. This non-invasive procedure uses a magnetic coil placed on the scalp to send pulses to the affected area. TMS has been shown to help individuals with depression where medication may not have worked.

People who have anxiety disorders struggle with intense and uncontrollable feelings of anxiety, fear, worry, and/or panic. These feelings can interfere with daily activities and may last for a long time.

We encourage anyone who feels that they may need help to come to us for behavioral health services and depression treatment. Ou specialists have years of experience working with older adolescents and adults of all ages who struggle with anxiety.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) causes uncontrollable habits and feelings that interfere with daily living. If you think you have OCD, you’re not alone — around one in 100 American adults has the disorder.

Most individuals develop OCD symptoms as teenagers or young adults. We don’t know the exact cause of this disorder, but it seems to have a connection to environment and genetics. Trauma may also trigger the issues associated with OCD. At CBH, we offer obsessive-compulsive disorder therapy and treatment in a supportive environment.

Comprehensive Behavioral Health can help you understand ADHD symptoms and learn how they relate to day-to-day life for both children and adults. Individuals with ADHD may struggle with any number of tasks on a daily basis, but with the proper treatment, they can better understand and manage their symptom. We develop treatments and plans for adults, children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD.

We nurture a compassionate environment where you can receive care without judgment. We understand that managing the symptoms of ADHD can be difficult, and we want you to feel at ease at our practice.

Bipolar disorder (formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression) is a mental disorder that causes changes in mood, behavior, energy and focus. An estimated 4.4% of U.S. adults experience bipolar disorder at some time in their lives.

With help from the professionals at CBH, you can manage these symptoms and live a more fulfilling life. We offer therapy and treatment for bipolar disorder in a  supportive setting.

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder experience symptoms to different degrees and have varying levels of function. Our team has extensive training and experience working with individuals with autism.

The experienced care team at CBH offers multiple forms of therapy including:

  • Behavioral therapy: ABA-trained therapists can help manage challenging behaviors and patterns for individuals with ASD. We’re happy to provide referrals to ABA therapists for our patients.
  • Medication management: Medications can go a long way toward helping with behavioral challenges that accompany ASD. Our team can help with understanding and finding the right medications to decrease behaviors associated with the disorder, improving the lives of individuals with ASD. We may also address any accompanying symptoms or conditions the patient experiences. For instance, individuals with autism can develop anxiety or depression due to the difficulties they face. Our team will provide additional treatments as needed to promote each patient’s well-being.

When trauma affects you long after it happens, you could have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If you think you have this condition, the team at CBH can help. Our providers can evaluate your symptoms and help you find a treatment that improves your well-being.

CBH uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and its variants to relieve symptoms. The types of therapy we offer to patients with PTSD include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): In CBT, the therapist and patient work together to change the thoughts underlying the patient’s feelings and behaviors. PTSD can cause unhelpful thinking that makes it difficult to function. CBT challenges those thoughts to help the patient cope better in everyday life.
  • Cognitive therapy: During cognitive therapy, the therapist and patient reframe the patient’s memories of the trauma. Together, they discuss the patient’s evaluations of their memories and figure out how to look at them in a productive way.
  • Prolonged exposure therapy: In prolonged exposure therapy, the patient has gradual encounters with trauma-related triggers. Therapists provide this service when the patient has avoidant behaviors. Over time, the patient learns that the trigger is safe and that they do not need to avoid it.
Some of our patients with PTSD also receive antidepressants to manage their symptoms. Your psychiatrist will discuss whether they recommend them.

Some of our patients with PTSD may also receive medication to manage their symptoms. Your psychiatrist will discuss whether they recommend them.

Should a patient require medication, we work collaboratively to find the most effective option. We take several things into consideration when making this decision, such as medical history, allergies/intolerances, and lifestyle. Medication can be an important piece of comprehensive care. At CBH, we monitor our patients’ medications by regularly scheduled check-ins, and encourage open and honest communication from our patients.

We manage medications for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Bipolar Disorder
